The Harlem Wizards will return to Avon Lake on April 14
03/31/2026 – Avon Lake, Ohio – Get ready for a night of high-flying hoops, hilarious comedy, and show-stopping moves when the Harlem Wizards return to Avon Lake to take on teachers and coaches from Avon Lake City Schools, St. Joseph Parish School, and St. Raphael School on Tuesday, April 14, at Avon Lake High School (175 Avon Belden Road). Doors open for pre-game festivities at 5:45 p.m. Tip-off will be at 7:00 p.m. This event is a fundraiser to support student athletes and school programs. Tickets are available at avonlakeanchoringcommunity.org.
“This event is more than just a basketball game — it’s a chance to create lasting memories with your family while supporting our local students,” said event organizer and Avon Lake resident Dr. Ken Remy. “Last year, it was the hottest ticket in town and a total sell-out. This may be the last year of this event and tickets are going fast, so grab them while you can.”
The pre-game festival will include a variety of family-friendly activities, including games and fund challenges for all ages, facepainting, concessions, and an appearance by Avon Lake Schools’ mascot Shorty the Shoreman.
Remy added that sponsorship opportunities are still available for local businesses looking to make an impact. Last year’s event was supported by more than two dozen sponsors, including University Hospitals, Avient, and many others. Those interested in becoming a sponsor should contact Remy for details, including sponsor benefits.
Founded in 1962 by sports promoter Howie Davis, the Harlem Wizards are known for delivering wildly successful fundraiser events for schools and nonprofits, last season alone they played in over 450 communities across the USA, while raising more than $3 million for schools and non-profits.
