Composting Survey

Food waste is a growing issue. Almost one third of food produced worldwide never makes it to the table and ends up as waste, occupying close to 25% of our ever- shrinking landfills. Food waste can be better utilized through various programs including composting. Composting consists of combining organic waste with ingredients such as woodchips that accelerate decomposition, resulting in a nutrient rich soil that can be used as fertilizer. This survey will help gauge interest and identify roadblocks to more widespread use of composting services that are available in Avon Lake and other Lorain County communities. This survey will remain open through August 4, 2026.
