The Communications and Technology Commission oversees many of the City of Avon Lake’s established and emerging digital assets, including our website, social media content, and cable access TV channels.

Members

The Communications and Technology Commission consists of seven (7) members who serve three (3) year terms, including five (5) members of the community appointed by City Council and the Mayor, one (1) Ex Officio, non-voting City Council representative, and one (1) Ex Officio, non-voting representative of Avon Lake City Schools.

Responsibilities

  • Advise City Council on general policy related to the operation and use of access channels, with the goal of maximizing the diversity of programs and services available to viewers.
  • Encourage the use of access channels among a broad range of institutions, groups, and individuals within the City.
  • Advise Council on developments in cable technology and their applicability to access channel programming.
  • Submit reports to City Council, including, but not limited to, a summary of access channel utilization, a review of any plans submitted during the year by the grantee for the development of new services, and a summary of deliberations related to assigned functions.

Meetings 

Meetings of the Communications and Technology Commission are typically held the third Thursday of the month, a minimum of six (6) times a year, at 6:00 p.m. in the Communications & Technology Department located in the Lower Level of the Avon Lake Public Library.
